Blood Money & Tears explores the emotional cost of chasing money—the sacrifice, pain, pressure, and ambition that can come with the pursuit of financial success.

The face is consumed by currency. Dollar signs replace the eyes, ears, and appear inside the mouth, representing a person who sees money, hears money, and speaks money. Money becomes more than something they possess; it becomes the lens through which they experience the world.

The green dollar signs symbolize wealth, hunger, opportunity, and the constant pursuit of more. The red teardrop represents both blood and tears—the losses, sacrifices, relationships, sleepless nights, and emotional price that can exist behind financial ambition.

The exaggerated purple teeth and mouth reinforce the idea that “money talks.” The wide expression can be read as either a smile of success or a grimace from everything it took to get there.

The rough brushwork, unfinished lines, overlapping colors, and exposed texture intentionally give the piece a raw, almost chaotic energy. It reflects the contradiction at the center of the work: money can represent freedom and opportunity, while the pursuit of it can also consume you.
